| Rotax Australia Press Release - 4th February 2010 Dear Rotax Owners & Distributors, It has come to our attention that some people are fitting more than one piece of exhaust matting to the silencer on Rotax engines. Both the Junior Max and Senior Max rules state that the muffler system must remain "as supplied," except for the "replacement" of the exhaust matting. Today I have spoken to the National Technical Officer, Harold Arnett and he agrees with me that the interpretation of this rule is that only one piece of exhaust matting material can be used and that the fitting of additional matting would contravene the rules. Therefore IKD wishes to advise all Rotax Karters of the following: ? Only Genuine Rotax Exhaust Matting can be used. ? The approximate size of a piece of Exhaust Matting is 480mm x 280mm. ? Only one complete piece of exhaust matting can be fitted at one time. Fitting of additional exhaust matting will be deemed illegal. Thanking you in advance for your adherence to the rules.
